Of Course, Of Course

I bought a horse.

Not a real horse. I can't buy a real horse for several reasons, not the least of which is that I have absolutely no idea how people go about buying and maintaining horses. Is there some government agency that needs to know I have this animal, like dogs? But horses are also transportation, so do I engage the DMV? I'm kidding (mostly).

No, I bought a little wooden/metal horse.

Note to self: TAKE A PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS!

To date, the members of the animal kingdom that are represented in my home's artwork/objets d'art include my new horse, a second rocking horse, two fish, a blue heron, a dog drawing, a dog sculpture, and a trio of tortoise shells, the last of which probably does not count without the tortoises, but it felt wrong to exclude them.

I should probably think very, very hard before adding another piece to this unintended collection. I'm not even a member of PETA.

But this was a special needs decorative wood and metal horse.

He is missing the last two inches of one of his rockers. He sat on the shelf, being sold "As Is", which is to home decor what the Island of Misfit Toys is to presents. It would have been hardhearted for me to ignore him and keep walking. And with a $2.99 price tag, it would also have been impossible. Me loves a bargain.

My choices include leaving him as is, since the break is not that noticeable in person, unless you are inspecting the vignette and looking for problems.  I could also remove the other three ends of the rockers, making him a horse on, well, skis. Very short skis. Or I could beg my woodworkin' neighbor to cut a piece to size and glue him back together. Glue. Horse. Ha! Literally no pun intended.

I will live with Stumpie for a while and then decide. He has a few months of providing transportation for Barbies and Incredible Hulk dolls anyway, so it's best not to be too hasty until the novelty wears off. It's not like he has to get ready for competition.

And Stumpie is not ashamed of his broken rocker.

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.
So we shall see.

Stopping in to check your blog and say hello.

On the photo front, if you are a Windows girl, download MS Windows Live Photo Viewer for free. It does a nice job of cleaning up photos and lightening the shadows in the corners of the shot.

Good day!
