Blame My Husband

If you live within fifty miles of me and your Craigslist item hasn't sold, you can probably blame my husband.

I'm not saying we'd be starring in an episode of "Hoarders," but if not for my husband, we'd have much less walking room in the house.

I see a Craigslist desk/table/sofa/chair/lamp/ottoman at least twice a week.

I email the link to my husband. "What do you think?"

On occasion, if we define "occasion" as "twice," he's responded with a thumbs up and we've made the necessary arrangements to lug the Craigslist desk/table/sofa/chair/lamp/ottoman home.

Much more frequently, he's ignored the email and I've done quick calculations on whether or not the thing can fit into my car. I then do the secondary calculation: is this thing worth removing and then having to reinstall my children's car seats so I can have more room? Very often the secondary calculation alone prevents me from emailing me the seller. Yes. Reinstalling car seats ranks higher than my husband's silent disdain for your used couch.

If we're home, where I'm harder to ignore, he'll come and look at the item before saying no. At this point I generally ask him what, precisely, he dislikes about the item, so I can employ this knowledge next time and not continually entertain something he hates.

The problem is, according to items on Craigslist, my husband hates: leather, cloth, beige, white, red, blue, green, orange, stripes, toile, florals, solid fabrics, single chairs, sets of chairs, dark wood, light wood, painted wood, distressed wood, wood.... you get the picture.

My husband is frugal, but there is a greater evil than spending money, and it is lugging home Craigslisted furniture.

Touche. We're about to switch over to all booster seats soon anyway.

Oh I remember the car seat days! My husband has no interest in Craigslist and hates when I mention seeing something on there I like. It's a shame because there are some really good deals to be found. Maybe your husband should have a talk with mine! LOL!!!
